It takes about 60 seconds. You've watched your child come home from school and you can read it on his or her face. Something's off. Maybe the work is too easy. Maybe it's too hard and nobody noticed. Maybe your child sits in a room with thirty other students and the teacher can't get to everyone. You've thought about changing schools, but you've heard promises before. Middlebury parents know what that sounds like.

What your child's day actually looks like

The student day runs from 8:10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Free before-care and breakfast start at 7:30. The reading program (HMH Into Reading) runs K through 8, and the school uses Chad Carr's BLITZ Model to build academic momentum. STEM isn't a poster on the wall; it's invention challenges and a Science Fair where your child presents real work to real judges. Music and Physical Education run as regular specials.

Two Deans. Not one. Two.

Most schools this size don't have one Dean of Students, let alone two. Jamon McClain's school does. They're in the hallways, in the classrooms, and in the conversations that happen when a student needs to hear the truth from an adult who actually cares. The PBIS framework means behavior is taught as a skill, not punished as a failure. Your child learns accountability in a building that practices it.

After school, the building stays open

Free tutoring runs Monday through Friday until approximately 5:30 p.m. The focus is reading and math. This isn't a study hall where students sit with a worksheet. It's targeted support on the skills your child needs most. Summer enrichment keeps students engaged between June and August. After-care is available through community partners.

The community shows up here

Red Oak. Families First. Peter James. Christ Child Referral Center. Arlene's Cuisine. These aren't logos on a letterhead. They're organizations that walk through this building and work directly with families. Christ Child provides uniform assistance so no family is excluded. Behavioral health partners extend support beyond the school day. If your family needs something the school can't provide alone, someone here knows who to call.

Middle school athletics

Boys basketball. Girls basketball. Girls volleyball. Cheerleading. Your child shows up, competes, and belongs to something. Elementary students build motor skills, coordination, and teamwork through PE and school-based athletic events.

Everything you just read? It costs nothing.

  • No tuition.
  • No application fee.
  • Free breakfast and lunch every school day.
  • Free before-care starting at 7:30 a.m.
  • Free after-school tutoring Monday through Friday.
  • Bus transportation through Petermann and community busing.
Case Preparatory Academy is publicly funded. Your tax dollars already cover it. Your child is in school right now. Today counts. Every semester in a building that doesn't know your child's name, doesn't catch the warning signs early, and doesn't have a plan when things go sideways is time your child doesn't get back.

You've read what this school does. You know what your child needs. Here's where you find out if it's the right fit.
